Cachoeira

The town of Cachoeira, 130 km west of Salvador, is part of the country’s baroque anthology. It is the cradle of agriculture in Brazil and has preserved streets and houses from the 17th century. On the banks of the Rio Paraguaçu and at the foot of the hills, Cachoeira is at the heart of the Recôncavo, a magnificent and fertile region which, thanks to the cultivation of sugar cane and tobacco, has played a preponderant role in the history of Brazil.
